Identity boundary

Profile, not endorsement.

RCI links the manufacturer identity to public evidence. Inclusion does not imply independent verification of performance, commercial availability in every region, or any commercial relationship with RCI.

Integration relevance

Why this supplier matters to a robot-system decision.

Beckhoff combines industrial PCs, embedded controllers, EtherCAT I/O, motion and TwinCAT software. In a robot, the useful comparison unit is the selected IPC/controller plus I/O terminals, real-time runtime, licenses, bus topology and maintained operating-system image—not an industrial-PC family alone.

Desk review: 2026-08-13. This dossier maps official research routes and unresolved decision questions; it is not an exact-model recommendation.

OFFICIAL EVIDENCE ROUTES

Start with responsibility-party material.

These routes define the current desk-research surface. RCI does not treat a portfolio page as a datasheet, purchase commitment or independent result.

SELECTION SIGNALS

What changes the engineering decision.

Signals organize further evaluation; they are not rankings or proof that one supplier fits a specific robot.

Signal 1

The platform can integrate compute, I/O and motion in one ecosystem, but CPU class, terminal chain, runtime and licenses are independently configurable.

Signal 2

EtherCAT capability does not by itself identify cycle time, distributed-clock topology, supported axes or safety configuration.

Signal 3

Long-availability statements are valuable for machines, but must be tied to the selected model, options, software and last-time-buy policy.

PROCUREMENT QUESTIONS

Questions to resolve before comparison or purchase.

A useful quotation should identify the configuration and answer these boundaries in writing.

  1. What exact IPC/CX order code, CPU, RAM, storage, interface option, I/O terminal list and power configuration are quoted?
  2. Which TwinCAT build, runtime functions, motion-axis count, license IDs and operating-system image are required?
  3. What EtherCAT cycle, distributed-clock, jitter and timestamp requirements are supported by the complete selected topology?
  4. Which environmental, EMC, safety, cybersecurity-update and recovery-image evidence applies to the configuration?
  5. What availability period, repair path, PCN/EOL notice, last-time-buy and compatible replacement process applies?
CURRENT EVIDENCE BOUNDARIES

What this dossier does not prove.

These limits prevent company-level research from being mistaken for product validation.

A controller family page does not prove real-time behavior for a particular task, I/O chain or third-party drive.

EtherCAT presence is not proof of profile conformance, safety validation or robot-level interoperability.

RCI has not run TwinCAT, measured control jitter or validated a Beckhoff robot-control configuration.

The exact -0100 order suffix is retained: no operating system and no TwinCAT are included. CPU-module specifications do not establish a complete real-time robot controller, I/O terminal set, licenses or deterministic performance.
