Identity boundary

Profile, not endorsement.

RCI links the manufacturer identity to public evidence. Inclusion does not imply independent verification of performance, commercial availability in every region, or any commercial relationship with RCI.

Integration relevance

Why this supplier matters to a robot-system decision.

Vector Informatik supplies CAN, LIN, FlexRay, automotive Ethernet and other network interfaces, logging hardware and analysis software. In robot development these tools can establish traceability, timing and fault evidence, but only when the exact interface, transceiver, cable, driver, license, timestamp clock and protocol configuration are frozen.

Desk review: 2026-08-13. This dossier maps official research routes and unresolved decision questions; it is not an exact-model recommendation.

OFFICIAL EVIDENCE ROUTES

Start with responsibility-party material.

These routes define the current desk-research surface. RCI does not treat a portfolio page as a datasheet, purchase commitment or independent result.

SELECTION SIGNALS

What changes the engineering decision.

Signals organize further evaluation; they are not rankings or proof that one supplier fits a specific robot.

Signal 1

Interface families differ in channel count, bus media, galvanic isolation, timestamping, synchronization and supported protocols; a USB connector does not establish equivalence.

Signal 2

Hardware, driver and licensed analysis software form one evidence chain, and version mismatch can change capture, decode or replay behavior.

Signal 3

Network tools can observe or inject traffic, so use in a safety-relevant robot requires an explicit passive/active mode and fault-injection boundary.

PROCUREMENT QUESTIONS

Questions to resolve before comparison or purchase.

A useful quotation should identify the configuration and answer these boundaries in writing.

  1. What exact VN/VX/VT or other hardware model, revision, channel configuration, transceiver, connector, cable and isolation option are quoted?
  2. Where are timestamps generated, what resolution, synchronization source, drift, latency and multi-device clock behavior apply?
  3. Which CAN/CAN FD, LIN, FlexRay, Ethernet or higher-layer protocols and bit-rate/physical-layer limits are supported?
  4. Which driver, firmware, CANoe/CANalyzer or other software version, option license, OS and automation API are required?
  5. What calibration, regional certification, warranty, repair, lifecycle, driver-support and compatible replacement process applies?
CURRENT EVIDENCE BOUNDARIES

What this dossier does not prove.

These limits prevent company-level research from being mistaken for product validation.

Protocol support does not prove interoperability with a robot-specific message definition, safety profile or timing budget.

A captured trace proves observed traffic at the measurement point, not the physical cause, end-to-end delivery or correctness of every node.

RCI has not captured or replayed robot traffic with a Vector interface or measured its timestamp and fault-injection behavior.
