RCI 042 · EV1 filing-source verification · zero RCI hardware tests

A semiconductor segment signal is not a robot-component demand table.

ST reported Q2 2026 growth across power, sensors and embedded processing and manufacturing starts at two 200 mm SiC sites. The filing provides no robot revenue, orderable-product split, capacity, yield or independent performance result.

The direct answer

What is supported? STMicroelectronics reported $3.487 billion of Q2 2026 net revenue, up 12.7% sequentially and 26.0% year over year. Power & Discrete revenue rose 19.2% sequentially and 3.7% year over year. The company also reported manufacturing starts and ramp-up at 200 mm silicon-carbide sites in Catania and the Sanan ST Chongqing joint venture.

What does that say about robot components? Only that broad upstream categories relevant to power, sensing and embedded processing showed company-level activity. ST's segments mix many products and end markets. The filing does not state how much came from robots, battery management, an exact MEMS sensor, an MCU or a SiC product family.

Did RCI validate a chip, sensor or fab line? No. RCI fixed and hashed one SEC-hosted filing, traced twelve observations and audited ten disclosure boundaries. It performed zero chip, sensor, controller, battery, robot or manufacturing tests.

Strongest supported conclusion

The quarter provides an upstream supply and manufacturing signal, not proof of robot-component demand, qualified SiC output, supplier reliability, product performance or procurement suitability.

Three broad segments moved—none is a robot category

Published segmentSequentialYear over yearRCI boundary
Power & Discrete+19.2%+3.7%No SiC-only, BMS-only, robot-only or part-number split
Analog, MEMS & Sensors+8.2%+26.0%Combines analog, MEMS, actuators and optical sensing
Embedded Processing+17.7%+35.5%Combines general-purpose and automotive processing; not robot main compute

Revenue growth should not be read alone as supply health or profitability. P&D recorded a $99 million operating loss, compared with an $84 million loss in the prior quarter. Company-wide GAAP gross margin was 34.8% and includes product-mix, unused-capacity and acquisition-accounting effects.

A manufacturing start is not capacity or qualified yield

The filing reports that 200 mm SiC manufacturing started and entered ramp-up in Catania and at the Sanan ST Chongqing joint venture. It also reports $1.215 billion of construction in progress reclassified to property, plant and equipment after those manufacturing starts.

Those are dated facility and accounting facts. They reveal neither qualified wafer capacity nor yield, utilization, product qualification, shipment quantity, availability or robot adoption. RCI does not convert the $1.215 billion reclassification into production capacity or SiC revenue.

The sensor comparison has an acquisition boundary

ST completed the acquisition of NXP's MEMS sensor business on 2026-02-02 and includes those activities in AM&S. That broadens the current-period segment and weakens simple like-for-like product inference. The filing does not break the acquired activity down by orderable sensor model or robot application.

The same restraint applies to Embedded Processing. A segment containing MCUs, connected security and automotive custom processing is not evidence of robot main-compute demand.

What an engineering-grade supply record still needs

  • End market: robot-specific revenue, units or design wins under a stated definition.
  • Product identity: orderable part numbers and exact revenue, volume or pricing fields.
  • Manufacturing output: qualified capacity, yield, utilization and shipment quantities for each site.
  • Application boundary: sensing, main compute, motor drive and BMS allocations without merging unrelated markets.
  • Independent validation: public protocols, raw results or external replication for performance and reliability claims.

Method, work level and rights

RCI fixed the SEC accession, downloaded the primary HTML document with an identifying user agent, recorded its byte count and SHA-256 digest, and traced twelve independently worded observations to filing sections. Historical results, manufacturing status, acquisition effects, forward-looking backlog language and missing fields remain separately labeled. No issuer prose, image or table is reproduced and no physical test was performed.

Highest completed work level: EV1 filing-source verification. This page includes a fixed primary-source identity and audit-date digest. It includes no EV3 recomputation, EV4 physical bench test, EV5 external replication or EV6 accredited-laboratory result. See the evidence work levels.

  • All operating, acquisition and manufacturing facts originate with STMicroelectronics and are not independent validation.
  • Reportable segments combine many products and end markets and cannot be converted into robot-component demand.
  • Manufacturing start and ramp-up language does not disclose qualified capacity, yield, utilization or shipments.
  • Current-period AM&S results include the acquired NXP MEMS sensor business and are not a clean model-level comparison.
  • RCI performed zero chip, sensor, controller, battery, robot or manufacturing tests.
